Autumn Bouquet Workshop with The Garden Gate Flower Company

Autumn Bouquet Workshop with The Garden Gate Flower Company

255.00

Tuesday 10th September 9.00 - 2.30

We're absolutely thrilled that the wonderful Becca Stuart from The Garden Gate Flower Company has agreed to collaborate with us on this very special bridal bouquet workshop. Becca is one of the top designers of the new British flower movement and has taught her relaxed, intuitive style of floristry at, among other places, Sarah Raven's Perch Hill studio.

Using exclusively homegrown and British flowers, Becca’s workshops focus on colour and texture, banishing the excessive use of a technique, rather embracing the season and the individual flowers. If you are yet to discover her fabulous work, I recommend taking a moment to scroll through her dreamy Instagram feed.

Whether you're a professional florist looking to develop your skills or a home florist keen  to use flowers in a natural, unstructured way, I can’t recommend this workshop enough.

The Workshop

Using flowers picked from the JW Blooms flower field, Becca will demonstrate how she creates her signature-style bridal bouquets, sharing her experience of choosing colour and texture to create designs which break the mould of the traditional spiralled bouquet. She will also show you how to apply the same techniques to designing container arrangements without floral foam.

Then it's your turn! With Becca's guidance and advice, you will create your own beautiful  bouquet to take home with you.

The day finishes with professional photographer John Hersey from Holes In The World Studio, who will capture your bouquet for posterity and your portfolio.

The emphasis will be on exploration - getting to know and working with naturally-grown flowers rather than the often stiff-stemmed, identical blooms found at the wholesaler. Questions are encouraged and Becca is also happy to discuss questions you may have about creating a sustainable business and growing your business through visual marketing. After you've created your bouquets, you are welcome to stay and explore the JW BLOOMS flower field, where. Jan will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about what she grows and the flowers you’ve been using.

About Becca

Becca is driven by her creativity and a passion for design. She creates beautiful wedding flowers in Cornwall for events with a unique approach to seasonality. She uses only British flowers including those grown in her garden at Duchy of Cornwall Nursery in Lostwithiel.

She carefully chooses flowers to design the perfect arrangements to reflect the season and style of her clients.   She loves to teach the art of floristry; banishing the excessive use of a technique and rather embracing the season and the individual flowers she chooses. Her workshops focus on colour, texture and the place in which the arrangement will be showcased.

About John

John established Holes in the World Studio in 2017 with the intention of visually exploring the fabric of, and people engaged in, creative and poetic pursuits. His clients are often creative entrepreneurs and artists looking to capture their story. John uses natural light and compositions inspired by painting to create poetic and ethereal images that empathise with the natural form of fabric and nature’s way. As well as branding and private commissions, John is developing wonderful creative partnerships with outstanding florists, chefs, writers and interior designers.

About Jan

Jan has been growing cut flowers for 10 years, during which time she has transformed a field of rough grass into the JW BLOOMS cut flower nursery, which today produces tens of thousands of flowers every year. She loves encouraging people to grow their own flowers for cutting and passing on the techniques and tips she’s learnt along the way.
