Some 80% of the flowers bought in Britain are imported, from as far afield as Colombia and Kenya, which seems such a shame when, with our great climate for growing, most of the flower varieties we buy - and many more - could be grown locally.

This is the field in Somerset where we've been growing our English cut flowers, using the no-dig method, since 2008.
It's incredibly hard work but when the sun's shining and the bees are buzzing, it's a magical place to work.

From May to October, we open the field on Sundays for you to see what we do.
